Hormonal changes are one of the main causes of occurrence of yeast infection. Logically, Candida is another name of yeast. This is known as Candida albicans, which is a particular fungus and responsible for vaginitis. Vagina and mouth are the specific body parts of human skin where yeast infection occurs because these are the areas of moisture and warmth. Almost 25% of all healthy women suffer from yeast infection. There are various yeast infection causes: yeast infection is primary cause for the vaginal discharge, itching or swelling. Steroids and antibiotics usage leads to this condition. Other factors are also there. Yeast infection may also be caused due to pregnancy, diabetes, diet, taking birth control pills or menstruation. After treatment of cancer, a weakened immune system may also cause yeast infection. It may also be caused after menopause.

When hormones are released during ovulation, menstruation and pregnancy, person becomes more prone to yeast infection. Hormonal changes lead to yeast infection, though there are not any direct links to hormonal periods. Few of common causes include: pregnancy, menopause and menstruation. When a woman is stressed, she is more susceptible to yeast infection. This is because during stress, fatigue, allergies, skin problems, loss of memory and digestive problems worsen.
